Useful Information

Due to the current COVID-19 crisis, all GP practices in the region, working closely with NHS Dumfries and Galloway, have had to take the decision to change the way in which they deliver services in order to protect patients and staff. Some non-urgent clinics and appointments will be suspended to allow GPs to focus on the most vulnerable patients with the most complex needs.

Vaccination Passport/Status Certificate

Please do not contact the practice to ask for a COVID vaccination passport or status certificate – we will not be able to provide any standard document. International certification standards have not yet been agreed.

We are Open!

Fewer patients have been consulting us for new physical or mental health problems during the pandemic and this is concerning as there may be people who need medical advice and whose condition may worsen if they don't get it. We would just like to remind you that we are still open for business although the way in which we are working may be slightly different. We urge you not to put off contacting us if you have any health concerns. Our reception staff are highly trained to deal with queries and they will by able to direct your concerns appropriately. A doctor will contact you by telephone in the first instance and will then be able to arrange a face to face consultation or further investigation if required.

We are now able to offer video consultations within the practice. Near Me is a video consulting service that enables people to have health appointments from home or wherever is convenient. All you need is a device for making video calls like a smartphone and an internet connection. Near Me is a secure form of video consulting approved for use by the Scottish Government and NHS Scotland.

COVID-19 Social Distancing

If you fall into the category of adults eligible for the annual flu vaccines for medical reasons, eg diabetes, heart disease, stroke, you will not be proactively contacted by the practice but it is recommended that you take active steps to reduce your social interactions to reduce the transition of coronavirus.

COVID-19 SHIELDING

Shielding is a measure to protect extremely vulnerable people from coming into contact with coronavirus by minimising all interaction between them and others. The benefit is that, by following the extremely stringent process of avoiding contact with others, this will minimise the chance of catching COVID-19.

Contacting the Practice

Can we please request that patients or carers avoid telephoning the surgery between 8.30 am - 9 am and 5 pm - 6 pm for non urgent enquiries.

If you have difficulty getting through at any other time, please let us know.

Your co-operation is appreciated and please feel free to make suggestions to improve communication.


Non NHS Requests

On occasions we are asked to undertake non NHS treatment or administrative work. There is a charge for this service as this involves additional work for the doctor and administrative team.

Feedback

If you disagree with the way your GP wants to treat you, or you are unhappy about the service provided by your GP surgery, tell them openly.

However, if you feel unable to do so or you are unhappy with the response you receive, you may wish to make a complaint.

All GP surgeries should have a written complaints procedure and you will find this at reception or on the practice website.

As a first step, speak to the practice manager. You can complain to the practice verbally or in writing.

If this does not resolve the problem, or you would rather not raise the issue directly with the practice, you can complain to the Health Board via the Complaints Department.

Online Prescriptions

We are now able to offer an online prescription ordering service.  To sign up for this, please contact reception with proof of identification. A member of the team will explain to you how the service works and provide you with a registration letter which will contain your unique access code. You will then be able to log on and order medication which is on your repeat prescription list.

Dr Adetutu Omosule

Dr Adetutu Omosule has joined the practice in February. She is in her second year of GP training and has spent a year at D&GRI working in obstetrics and gynaecology and general medicine. She will be with us for six months initially before returning to D&GRI and back with us for a year in February 2022.
