The Nursing Team

The Nursing Team is lead and managed by Pauline Brown, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, and consists of Senior Practice Nurse, Gillian Brogan, Treatment Room Nurse, Anne Walker and Health Care Assistants Betty Anderson and Sandra Murphy.  Shona Paterson also carries out a weekly INR clinic.

They are a vital part of the practice and a very skilled and experienced team who work very closely together alongside the doctors to provide an important service to patients.

Pauline Brown, Nurse Practitioner

Pauline manages and leads the practice nursing team.

She has undergone advanced training to obtain her qualification. She is fully integrated into the team and works in close liaison with the Doctors. She runs her own surgeries in which she can diagnose, refer and prescribe. Pauline also undertakes house visits and telephone consultations.

Gillian Brogan, Senior Practice Nurse

Gillian has been in post as a senior practice nurse at the Castle Douglas Medical Group since February 2009. Since qualifying in 1987 she initially worked in surgical wards at Dumfries Infirmary. Gillian also worked as a staff nurse in the rehabilitation unit at Castle Douglas Hospital. In 2003 she became Stroke Liaison Nurse for the Stewartry in which she developed her interest in risk factor management and health promotion. You can consult Gillian for the following :

  • Advice on lifestyle factors such as cholesterol lowering, weight loss

    Betty Anderson, Health Care Assistant

    After many years as a receptionist, Betty has changed roles and is now one of our Health Care Assistant.  You may remember Betty from many years ago when she was Practice Nurse.

    Sandra joined joined our reception team in January 2014 and following training, became a Health Care Assistant with our nursing team in February 2017.
